Gouging the Poor

Somewhere I heard that Democrats wanted good things for the people.

Reading the following news clip makes me wonder, "which people?"

WASHINGTON – A House committee chairman said Tuesday that he wants Congress to enact a mileage-based tax on cars and trucks to pay for highway programs now rather than wait years to test the idea.

Rep. James Oberstar, D-Minn., said he believes the technology exists
to implement a mileage tax. He said he sees no point in waiting years
for the results of pilot programs since such a tax system is inevitable
as federal gasoline tax revenues decline.

I live out here in rural America where many have to drive many miles on poor roads to get to a low-paying job.

Gouging them to give big government the funds to give to big banks is downright criminal.

'Political Philosophy' HA!

Republican Sen. Arlen Specter of Pennsylvania says he plans Tuesday to switch parties, a move intended to boost his chances of winning re-election next year that also will push Democrats within one seat of a 60-vote filibuster-resistant majority.

He noted, "I now find my political philosophy more in line with Democrats than Republicans."

Oh come on! His political philosophy is the same as that of his nest-mates; "What's in it for ME?"

Totally Irresponsible Bureaucracy

A low-flying 747 and military jets buzzed lower Manhattan this morning, causing buildings to be evacuated, and people panicking, "OH MY GOD, ANOTHER 911!".

It was a Defense Department photo-op.

I trust it will come out which irresponsible bureaucrat didn't bother to give New Yorkers advance warning.

Wake up, gals...GET REAL!

It's written in a London Newspaper; "If analysts of the Susan Boyle phenomenon are correct, there has never been a better time to be weird looking. In hairdressers all around the world, women are praying that a cut 'just like Susan's' will change their lives."

I can't believe that women, 'all around the world' are that removed from reality. Surely it is obvious that Susan Boyle's life has changed because she has an extraordinary talent and looks like....

Are you ready for this.....

Susan Boyle.

Yep, when you see her, you see the REAL her...the way SHE wants to look, not like all the Hollywood bimbos with Cookie-cutter faces and the ridiculous current fad, Cookie-cutter long hair. No more 'weird' than the majority of rational women who just look like themselves.

Some faces look better with one makeup type, and others are different. The same goes for hair styles. And God love the woman who realizes that she look just fine with very little or even NO makeup.

Come on gals...WAKE UP...that is...GET REAL!

If It Feels Good, DO IT!

Last month, U.S.  in a New York lawsuit that Bush administration appointees let politics, not science, drive their decision to allow over-the-counter access to these pills only for women 18 and older. Korman ordered the agency to let 17-year-olds get the medication, and separately to evaluate whether all age restrictions should be lifted.

In a New York lawsuit recently, District Judge Edward Korman ruled that Bush administration appointees let politics, not science, drive their decision to allow over-the-counter access to these pills only for women 18 and older, so he ordered the agency to allow 17-year-olds get the medication, adding that they should separately evaluate whether all age restrictions should be lifted.

"The government will not appeal this decision," the FDA said in a statement Wednesday.

There you go...don't bother teaching responsibility to the young. Just tell them, "If it feel good, DO IT. "If it causes a problem, don't worry, we'll fix it for you."

Fight Fire with Fire II

The Bush administration memos revealed that two captured Qaeda operatives were subjected to a form of near-drowning known as waterboarding a total of 266 times.

Why? Because high value information came from interrogations in which those methods were used and provided a deeper understanding of the al Qa’ida organization that was attacking this country.

But now these interrogation methods are deemed to be illegal torture by the Obama White House. Just one more example of the administration's shocking lack of understanding of the real world where we are dealing with an enemy who would happily slaughter any non-believers, particularly Americans. Our "President" is aiding and abetting them by letting them know that if we capture any of them they don't have to worry that we might hurt them. This is no to fight a war to the finish.

Considering that one must fight fire with fire, it is obvious that our "civilized" methods cannot possible win over an uncivilized enemy.

Fight Fire with Fire

In dealing with those who would kill an American for no other reason than he IS an American, it is absurd to limit our actions to civilized methods. In other words; we should fight fire with fire.

The pirates are annoyed that we rescued their American prisoner, and prevented them from taking over another ship flying our flag. One of them announced, "We will seek out the Americans and if we capture them we will slaughter them."

If that isn't a declaration of war, I don't know what is.

Why aren't American cargo vessels equipped with a couple of shooters trained and equipped with small but sophisticated weapons that could easily destroy any approaching lifeboat-sized craft loaded with armed men?

Yes, initially the pirates will seek revenge, but if enough of their peers never return home, the smarter ones will see the futility of their mayhem.
